Having headed agency’s creative leadership five years ago, Sergio dreamed of transforming it into one of the best creative agencies in the world.
Over the past few years, Africa has been Latin America's most prestigious Agency in Cannes, El Ojo, Wave Festival, D&AD and Clio Sports, and has been named International Agency of the year by Ad Age, and one of the ten most creative agencies by Adweek.
Africa has twice been named Agency of the Year at the Cabore Awards, the most prestigious award in the Brazilian advertising industry.
Sergio has won more than 50 Cannes lions (including the Grand Prix), 4 Grand CLIOs and more than 20 D&AD pencils, and his name can be found on lists such as:
- Business Insider’s “The 30 Most Creative People in Advertising”;
- Adweek’s “13 Global Creative Leaders whose ideas are advancing advertising worldwide”;
- “100 Most Creative People 2019”;
- “One of the most influential admen in the country” by GQ magazine and Internationalist’s “Agency Innovators”.
He was elected twice Brazilian Creative of the Year, as well as Best Creative Professional by APP (Brazilian Association of Advertising Professionals), El Ojo’s Latin American Creative of the Year in 2017 and 2018 and ranked #1 creative director of the year by Lurzer's Archive.
Sergio has worked for some of the bravest clients in the business such as Vivo, Budweiser, Brahma, Itau Bank, Natura, BRF, Folha de S.Paulo, and ESPN.
But what really makes him be proud of himself is the great number of creatives who he helped shape their talents around Africa's creative culture, and now are leading some other amazing and creative agencies all over the world.
This year Sergio will be a President of Red Apple Creative Jury.
